Marcos Menaldo of Guatemalan outfit Deportivo Marquense has tragically died after suffering a heart attack during a training session on Monday.
The 25-year-old defender had complained he was finding it difficult to breathe during a pre-season session as he geared up for the new campaign alongside his teammates.
The tragedy occurred at the Marquesa de la Ensenada Stadium where Menaldo received emergency CPR treatment on the pitch in San Marcos before being transferred to the Hospital de Especialidades where he died.
A centre-back by trade, Menaldo was a fan favourite due to his efforts during Deportivo's successful second division title win last term, crowned Liga de Ascenso champions in December - coincidentally on the same day as Menaldo's 25th birthday.

Hernan Maldonado, Deportivo's club president, has already addressed the heartbreaking death of his player, telling ESPN digital : "One does not come out of astonishment.
"A young, dynamic and jovial person, this happens to him. It is quite strong and shocking because you lose not only a player, you lose a friend.
"God has his plans and his purposes, but unfortunately we have the death. It was around 11:00 hours that they called me to inform me that Marcos had fainted in training.
"They transferred him to the assistance centre where they did everything possible. But unfortunately, the death was confirmed."
His death is not the first to shock football in recent weeks, nor the first cardiac arrest either.
Croatian footballer Marin Cacic died in similar circumstances before Christmas after a sudden collapse in training.
The 23-year-old was diagnosed with heart failure shortly after being rushed to a nearby hospital.

Uh...sure, sure. Whatever...
“Safe and effective what? Where does the article state that he had the jab?”
C’mon. Since when does the vax porn cult deal in facts ‘n stuff? Those are irrelevant when there’s a good story going.
Simply posting a 2015 study of annual soccer deaths without comment triggered one of them. I guess he’s afraid that it might cut the legs out from underneath the fear porn. Imagine that.

“Mortality in international professional football (soccer): a descriptive study”
Why let the facts get in the way of a good story. If you don’t want to get the vaxx, then don’t get it; if you do want the vaxx, then get it. But don’t fabricate vaxx facts as science to support an agenda.
Tragic, unforeseen, unpredictable, unrelated ….
Maybe I should just add it to key words. Vax mandate pimps ESAD.
👍
Sickness isn’t as bad and prevents death. Just doesn’t prevent heart attacks.
By the end of the year, it would have been higher.
He was involved in competitive soccer, on a top club, do he may have been vaccinated.
Actually, they use Moderna
I haven’t seen any evidence the rate of cardiac deaths among footballers is any higher than average. Have you?

Why yes I have. A link was posted right in this thread.
Alright, alright. It’s MOSTLY safe and effective.
You have not figured it out yet?
The magic vax is just proving its effectiveness. Nothing to see here, citizen, move along.
Does it cause heart problems in the vaccinated?
“Faking injuries, or flopping as it’s otherwise known in soccer, is an over-exaggeration of contact from a defender to draw a penalty from the referee. ... Faking injuries and flopping is frequent in soccer; to get a player eliminated from the game is 2 yellow cards (equaling a red card).Jul 19, 2021”
Any more sudden, unexpected deaths and I am going to become an alcoholic. lol
Being a soccer player, he had to travel and to get into other countries, had to have approved vaccine.
Second division Guatemalan teams play a lot internationally?
