A man was walking his dog when he discovered nearly decomposed human remains on a hiking trail in Oregon, police said.

The man reported finding the remains in the evening of Monday, Jan. 10, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said. The report prompted an investigation that began the next morning with several search teams and human remains detection dogs.

The dog walker found “skeletonized remains,” meaning the body had likely been in the wilderness long enough for the remains to decompose and begin to reveal the skeleton, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said.

His dog thought he had hit the lottery, all those bones, so little time.

Now there's some circular logic for you. The skeleton was there long enough to become a skeleton. Who needs a forensic team?

Jackson County is Southwest Oregon bordering CA, so no, not DB Cooper or a Bundy victim. Also, these are only partially skeletonized so not from decades ago, more likely to be a homeless addict from last summer/fall.

“Who needs a forensic team”?

It’s SOP that they document everything.

Ted Bundy victim?

"nearly decomposed," as the article state, in a temperate climate, would be something like 3-6 months, so wouldn't match his time at all.

Yeah! I’ve been over the mountain a time or two. They better look local missing persons. As for DB who cares? If you can smell it, it ain’t that old. If the dog does, and you can’t things get interesting. .

Bundy? Ted. Ain’t no way. He tracks to SLC. This is newer. I’m just an observer.

Investigators believe at least one of the remains belongs to an aspiring banker who purchased an excessive amount of ammunition from a shopkeep who offered him food and spare parts for his travels but was rebuffed. He died from dysentery.

During the spring/summer / fall, in the open, a body becomes skeletonized in about 2 weeks. Colder weather stops insect activity. Yt has a time lapsed video of a roadkill deer decomposing. Less than 2 weeks to bones.

If you want to find a body, form a search team of dog walkers, joggers and kids playing.

More like a tautology.

"How long has the skeleton been here?"

"Well, long enough to become a skeleton!"

Regards,
