The reason is because these guys can teach ANYwhere in the world. UCSB flies them in during the middle of winter, right after they interview with Chicago or New York or ColdVille, and the airport is directly next door to UCSB which is right on the beach. 70 degree weather in the middle of winter. My granddaughter has applied to UCSB. She's drop dead gorgeous and heart-melting sweet, and her innocent allure makes Santa Barbara look downright dreary by comparison.

Should I be alarmed ("party school") or thrilled (world class professors)?
