Hall at SHOT Show 2022 Day Two
U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)-– On day two of SHOT Show 2022, the subjective experience of this correspondence is: attendance increased over yesterday. There were clearly more media in the Press Room. Some of them reported delays in flights and difficulty in getting flights at all, which explained much. The number of media registered for the show is similar to 2020, approaching 2,000. The media has to pre-register, so transportation delays are inside of those numbers.
Another consideration is the expansion of the floor space at the show. This has the positive effect of reducing crowding, making it easier to get around. Floor space at the SHOT Show in 2022 is up to 800,000 square feet compared to 692,000 square feet in 2020. A 16% increase in floor space does much to reduce congestion.
Attendance at the SHOT show is down for 2022, as expected, but not as much as the subjective experience would indicate. The number of registered attendees are very close to 42 thousand for 2022, and may go over; in 2020 they were 55 thousand, for about a 24% drop. Some of those attendees had transportation problems and flight delays. The actual numbers in attendance will be known shortly after the end of the show.
Compare the SHOT Show numbers to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), for the same years. The numbers for the CES dropped from about 170 thousand in 2020 to 45 thousand in 2022. That is a 73% drop. The CES show is the biggest conference-type show held in Las Vegas.

??Masks...why
—attendance at the Beinfield Antique Arms show on Saturday was definitely down somewhat from the last one I attended three years ago—
(it is held the weekend following SHOT)
A report from one of the YouTube channels I follow: (paraphrased)
"On Day One (Tuesday,) there were "mask enforcers" walking the floor telling people to put on their masks.
"On Day Two, (Wednesday) there were fewer "enforcers" on the floor.
"By Day Three (Thursday) there were no "enforcers to be seen."
ALL Trade Shows in Vegas are low in attendance. Vegas/Nevada is crazy with mask enforcement and Vax Passports. I did a trade show in November at Ceasar’s - the staff was rude and mean - chasing people down and yelling at them to wear masks.
I will not return to Vegas for any trade show until the Covid laws change.
I was required to have a mask to register at the Hotel.
I was required to have a mask to enter a restaurant.
Lots of people ignored or wore masks haphazardly or not at all.
I enjoyed the Antique Arms show a lot. It took me about 3 hours to look at most stuff I was interested in.
They only have power when the majority of us comply.
I accidentally omitted my “/sarc” tag.
Humble apology offered.
—yep—as far as I am concerned , it is the only gun show worth going to here in Vegas—most others are too cluttered with non-firearms stuff—
Maybe next year’s Shot Show should be in a more favorable location...
No apology necessary. I knew your post was being sarcastic, but I used it as a springboard to tell the little SHOT Show mask story.
As the YouTuber (I forget which one, I've watched so many SHOT videos) said" "SHOT Show is the wrong crowd to try to enforce mask mandates."
They had a gun show at the Albany NY convention center this past weekend, the local woke media refused to mention it in their “Weekend Things to do” segments.
You could not register at Ceasar’s without a mask on - I saw people refused service if they were not wearing the face diaper.
Management has given the staff unlimited power to intimidate customers.
They pulled that crap at Barrett Jackson last year until the car buyers/sellers told them:
“If you want us back next year, get these hired ASU mask Nazis out of our face!”
