He went all those years without being pulled over?
Imagine all the money he saved.
As if this was unusual.
Anarchy for the UK.
The guy did it.
Obviously licensing is unnecessary for this chap as the license is supposed to be some form of credential for competent driving.
The snot nosed whippersnappers demanding he now be licensed, after 70+ years of incident free driving, would be demanding my immigrant Italian grandmother be “licensed” to cook Sunday spaghetti dinner.
And that’s the way it was and we LIKED IT too!
“hitting them whilst uninsured”.
Oh the horror!!!
The insurance companies will probably sue him for lost revenue.
Good for him!
Stop him before he drives again.
How did he get plates without insurance?
I drove for 20 years on a suspended license. It can be done. Glad I’m legal now, but those fines can be onerous for poor ppl, especially for misdemeanor violations such as no registration.
Good for him. The prison that our country has become demands too much of us.
Just think, the man saved at least $1500 a year on insurance and $200 to $500 on licens tags every year for 60 years. Brilliant!
No one read the rest of the article.
He was found out because a traffic camera detected the car was improperly registered. Big Brother indeed.
I love this man.
I’ll bet he’s the type to build a solid home from scratch without inspection.
The UK is different that the US. I do know that you are not required to have a Drivers License. If you have one and had a suspension of it, you are screwed if you are pulled over. You get a Drivine while Suspended ticket, and they add on until infinity. If you just don’t get a License, the worst thing they can do is take your car to impound. They have nothing else to threaten you with.
IMO, a license is not required to travel in the common manner of the day. In 1880’s that was horse, horse and wagon or walking. In 2022 you can drive a car, drive a bike/motorbike, skateboard, or walk.
Tell me that the roads are safer with licensing, you know it is not true if you do much driving. How many wetbacks get away with DUI’s? All of them, they are not charged. The reason is, they don’t have a license.
Reminds me of my grandfather, back in 1970s Texas. He’d been driving way before there was even such a thing as a driver’s licence or even stop signs and lights. He paid no heed to any of that nonsense. My folks would only allow us to ride with him if he promised to stop at red lights and stop signs. :)
