Most autistic characters have been played onscreen by neurotypical actors. A new series bucks the trend, starring three leads who are on the spectrum.

This is a funny, sad, heart warming, make you cry, and uplift you series.
It is real life. One of the leads befriends a young boy. It is an innocent and joyous relationship...but that is not how the world saw it. I get both sides of what happened.
Whether or not you have an autistic family member...try watching the show if you have Amazon.
I am on the spectrum.
It’s one of the best series I’ve watched in a long time. Reminded me of the young autistic boy in Parenthood TV show. Then I see it’s written by one of the same who wrote on that show.
I had read the very well written book by Jodi Picoult called House Rules where I learned quite a bit about autism. She researched it heavily.
I feel both those TV shows were a good portrayal. I have a dear friend who has an autistic son. I’ve witnessed quite a few of these behaviors. That boy is so lucky to have the wonderful parents he has.
here is the trailer for it. You might see something you relate to in it

My youngest son is on the spectrum. Brilliant boy, kind, thoughtful, honest, faithful, his room is always neat as a pin.
He got bullied mercilessly at school because he does not pick up on social cues. He is in a different school now but still eats lunch alone everyday. Life is difficult for kids on the spectrum. They know they are different and want to have friends, but most kids can’t be bothered trying to understand them.
A shame. Asbergers kids will be your true friend forever.
I’m definitely on the spectrum, so I was wondering about this series.
for those that dont have Amazon they have some kind of deal for a free trial at the moment that includes showtime for 30 days. You will have to search to find the details...so you could check it out.
I admit, I always liked the movie “The Accountant” with Ben Affleck. (I know, he is a Lefty)
I just thought: Great. Who would be a more relentless and focused professional assassin than someone who resides on the spectrum?
It would be as bad as having The Terminator coming after you.
God bless you. And your son.
FWIW, you may want to check out a company called Ultranauts:
Founded in 2013 by two MIT engineers, Ultranauts (formerly Ultra Testing) is on a mission to demonstrate that neurodiversity is a competitive advantage for business. To achieve our mission, we’re building a world-class quality engineering firm that delivers superior value for our customers, and designing a Universal Workplace that embraces diversity and serves as a replicable blueprint for other employers.
Ultranauts has been growing over 50% annually while maintaining a 100 Net Promoter Score among customers, and when benchmarked against global IT firms, we’ve delivered measurably superior results. Ultranauts has also built the world’s first fully remote workplace for cognitively diverse teams, with colleagues working in 29 states across the U.S. More than 75% of our professionals across the company are on the autism spectrum, and 100% of Ultranauts believe our differences make us better together.
Ultranauts is reimagining how a company hires talent, manages teams and develops careers to empower our teams to perform at their best. From data-driven recruiting to objectively assessing talent (based on aptitude assessments and job simulations instead of solely relying on resumes and work experience), to flexible business practices for harnessing unique strengths (e.g. remote workplace, desired-time-equivalent work week, Inclusive Agile practices), to a supportive culture that promotes continuous learning (via personalized learning pathways), we’re designing a Universal Workplace where everyone is empowered for success.
Is there a spectrometer? Is it better to be on the left of center or right of center?
Ok sorry for bad jokes this may be a trigger for some.
Me too.
Me too.
I probably would have been on the ‘spectrum’ when I was younger, but since it didn’t exist back then, I was forced to suck it up and outgrow it.
autism is an overused term, as is “spectrum” The Spectrum is huge- and it is ever expanding.
