It’s a great meme, nonetheless!
Ask Eric Ciaramella
“Ironically Ukraine may end up like Afghanistan with all the troops fleeing their positions and leaving all those new American weapons for the Ruskies to plunder.”
No, the Ukrainians are not going to flee. If they have to, they will continue the fight as guerillas and partisans.

Quid Pro Quo? Paging Adam Schiff.
Can’t wait for Putin to begin with, “Let’s go Brandon.”
Why? Isn’t Crimea an example? There is indeed insurgency in Donbas, except it fights against the Ukrainian Army.
I understand that the scenario is hypothetical, but if you are a Ukrainian and there is a Russian invasion, what are you going to fight for? Kiev oligarchs or Hunter’s business interests?
......”If they have to, they will continue the fight as guerillas and partisans”.......
Putin will be happy about that....conflict on Ukraine’s borders means they can never join Nato. Nato won’t accept them with conflict.
First, in 2014 Russia was already in Crimea, with military bases, per agreement with Ukraine. Second, in the Donbas the population is heavily ethnic Russian (compare this to the Sudeten Germans in 1938), and would welcome returning to Mother Russia. Third, Ukrainians west of the Dnieper want to remain independent. What Putin is actually encouraging is a hot Ukrainian civil war.
Ukraine is not going to join NATO, and never was. That is a red herring. But, ethnic Ukrainians (i.e., primarily west of the Dnieper) WILL fight any invasion.
The “hot” civil war is over since 2015, with the de-facto independence of the rebel areas.
Both Russia and Ukraine do not want to escalate it.
The Russian objective is to return Donbas and Lugansk to Ukraine on terms fixed in Minsk agreements and be done with it.
Nothing indicates the opposite, except Western agitation, encouraging Ukraine to forcefully return the breakaway republics and label the hostilities the “Russian aggression”.
Former Sec of State Mike Pompeo’s tweet: @mikepompeo·17h Praying for the Ukrainian people. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is strong and will serve the faithful. Ukrainian soldiers are strong and steadfast. We stand with you.
Trump’s interview on Fox & Friends re: Ukraine-Russia conflict.

Ukraines President Zelensky has been saying that he had not seen intelligence indicating an imminent Russian attack, and that “too much information” about a possible offensive was sowing unnecessary fear.
(NY Times reported)
Assumptions that Ukraine is ready to go on the offensive in the Donbass,
.... the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council called “fiction”.
The Russians may capture Kyiv in 24 hours. But then at night, the Ukrainian guerilla will ambush Russian Patrols with IEDs, RPGs and AK47s. Russia will need around 500,000 troops if they want to occupy the whole country including, Kyiv.
There might be some border skirmishes and perhaps they will annex a eastern province or two. But it won't be anything more than that. Russia is not a wealthy nation, they simply do not have the resources for an extended campaign in Ukraine.
Well, your posting history indicates you are a staunch Russian apologist, so your comments about this matter should be taken with that in mind.
Ah, yes, the Minsk Agreements. The agreements that Russia said it (Russia) was not bound by since it (Russia) was not an involved party in the civil war (yet Russia was the principal behind the agreements). The same agreements that were totally silent on Russia’s annexation of Crimea, thus tacitly accepting Russia’s annexation of Crimea. The same agreements that Russia insists gives the Donbas autonomy (which, of course, would allow Russia to call the shots there and influence Ukrainian policy). Of course Russia likes the agreements, because Russia is the biggest winner in those agreements.
What is wrong with being a “Russian apologist” on things Russia is right at?
Did you read the agreements and then the Ukrainian law on the “interim period”?
Talk that Russia is going to influence Ukrainian politics through Donbas autonomy is just a lame excuse to steal electoral rights from millions of people.
Prove me why I am wrong.
“Assumptions that Ukraine is ready to go on the offensive in the Donbass, .... the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council called “fiction”.”
I never said Ukraine was ready to “go on the offensive.” Defending against an invasion is not going on the offensive. Now, if there is martial conflict, and Ukrainian troops cross the border into Russia or Belarus, then such a move could arguably be offensive in nature (but, if Ukrainian elements bombed Russian batteries that were firing on Ukraine, and those batteries were in Russia, that would still arguably be defensive in nature).
