Instead of just standing around, I hope they’ll be returning power to the grid.

The greenest way to charge cars is with solar power.

Yep, no more six story parking garages under the building where you work.

We'll have six square blocks of solar panels over concrete parking spaces, no trees allowed, where you can get a 20% charge from all day under a bright clear summer sun.

The other three quarters of the year, not so much.

And there will be an airplane or heliflopper in every garage.

Long live the experts and their excellent vision of the future.

“The average age of an American car on the road is 12 years. A 12-year-old EV will be on its third battery.”

Battery life is 300,000 to 500,000 miles.

That is over 20 years with normal driving

I see a figure of 90kwh.

Assume a 30-mile commute on a 300-mile range vehicle.

That’s 9kwh of juice. Make it 12kwh for recharge and conversion inefficiency.

That’s about 30 100-watt panels in a very sunny area for an 8-hour/day office worker.

The associated costs will be about four times the panel costs.

Well

2000 square feet of solar panels will generate the equivalent energy of 12 gallons of gasoline per day in good weather.

Where are you going to put all those panels?

The greenest way is not the only possible way.

In many cases natural gas or nuclear power will be needed for recharging.

Only an idiot of Biden-caliber thinks we can do totally away with fossil fuels.

Each workplace will typically already have parking space associated with it. Commercial building operators will arrange for charging facilities, often as contracted with employers.

And if it cloudy, rains, or far enough north where there is only 3 hours of sunlight in the day in the winter, tough noogies.

Thank you. I was wondering if anyone else caught that.

I am by no means an EV advocate. Buy ‘em if you want, or stick with ICE if you choose.

But the fallacy in this article’s logic is that it doesn’t take into account that most EV charging will occur overnight at home, not at roadside charging stations.

ALL ICE cars must visit a gas station. Not all EV cars MUST visit a charging station.

Probably not anywhere north of the Mason-Dixon Line this time of year.

“A standard 10 amp socket”

No such thing. Most likely connected to 24 Amp circuit.

“Where are you going to put all those panels?”

Panels are best placed in the American Southwest and Florida because in December & January the sun is rather low in the sky.

Transmission lines at extremely high voltage will transmit the electricity hundreds of miles on average.

Engineers and accountants will use calculators and spreadsheets, and their brain cells.

Anybody with an understanding of the Law of Conservation/1st Law of Thermodynamics is LTFAO at these fools.
I know not everybody has a mechanical engineering background, so let me say this: the basic laws are like gravity...they don’t just dramatically change because some idiots say so. Hint: The chimneys at the power stations are the EVs’ “exhaust pipes”. They’re morons.
But hey, IF that’s what society wants, give it to em, collect the money and put it in the bank....LMAO.

Dedicated circuits are 32 and 40 Amp.

32 Amp gives you 80% in 10 hours.

It’s not so much Biden, but the environmental wackos who think you really don’t need an automobile anyway. They won’t allow NG or nuclear power. They’ll just tell you to take mass transit.

tough noogies: ICE-powered vehicles & $10/gallon gas

Millions of ICE-powered vehicles will be serving mankind long after Greta gets her last old age pension payment.

In 2200, oil wells will be drilled.

Congratulations on knowing that burning NG in a dual-cycle gas turning making electricity for EV’s is more efficient than burning it in an ICE vehicle.

“They won’t allow NG or nuclear power.”

Even EU officials are able to determine that they will be needed.
