“and were suspected of the cause of the fire...”

There you go misrepresenting the facts.

$500,000 for a car that probably has at the least smoke damage, soaked interior, salt water corrosion underway in the wiring harness? Did the fire burn straps securing the cars to the decks?

The ride down to the sea floor may not have hurt them much, but the sudden stop may have.

Ha. We keep getting calls for car warranties we don’t have. And didn’t ask for. These have become more persistent ( and annoying) than even all the calls to purchase more health insurance or life insurance.

Things must be tough in the inference business?

Remember from the Brit ‘TOP GEAR. that Lotus stands for “lots of Trouble Usually Serious”, quoting Jeremy.

I didn’t think water would put out a lithium battery fire.

Likely no Seats or Skodas. Other VW brands include Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini, Ducati (probably none of those, either), Audi, and, of course, VW. (They also mention Cupra, but the link to that page appears dead, and I’ve never run across one).

““the article states that there were lithium-ion battery powered electric vehicles on board and were suspected of the cause of the fire...”

Lithium not in article.

Article states cause is unconfirmed.

If each car averaged $50,000 value (its probably higher) - that’s a $200,000,000 cargo at the bottom of the ocean!

From the pictures provided during the attempts to save the ship most of the cars were burned. A burned car has no value, just the liability associated with getting rid of the hazardous waste remaining.

Even the parts from the cars are useless after an intense fire.
