The best thing The Wrecking Crew ever did was Mr Tambourine Man by The Byrds. The Byrds were just starting out and the record label didn't trust the musicians to perform well so they called in the Crew for everything but lead guitar. Roger McGuinn played his 12 string. The session tapes are on youtube.

Magical!

There was an argument as to whether Roger or Glen played the 12 string on that track. Glen - in a piece w/ Steve Lukather set it to rest. It was Roger.

Lukather/Campbell

To this day, “Mr. Tambourine Man” (the album) remains a classic masterpiece for that period and the introduction of McGuinn’s “jangly 12-string” guitar sound.

Produced, IIRC, by Terry Melcher, son of Doris Day and previous occupant of the house Sharon Tate & friend were murdered.

Living in Hollywood at the time was quite an experience for a kid & his girlfriend from Ohio.
