It may be a mild imposition, but it serves a good purpose here in California. You see, during May and June it starts to get light outside a little before 4:30 a.m. PDT, and it's bright sunshine by a little after 5 a.m. If not for DST, this would happen an hour earlier ... with it starting to get light outside at 3:30 in the damn morning!!
