His voice is too distinct to be lead for any other band without it sounding like Hall and Oates.

I thought VH was O.K. while Roth was front man, but Sammy Hagar is a one of a kind. Van Hagar for ever!

“Daryl Hall said that Eddie Van Halen once asked him about replacing David Lee Roth in Van Halen”
With all due respect to Daryl Eddie musta been on a bit of a bender when he made that request. Lol!
I like Sammy Hagar too but I always thought HE was a mistake for VH.

Eddie wouldn’t go for the required Mustache and Hair Cut.

Actually Hall has done some really amazing stuff away from H&O that sounds nothing like it. He was hanging around with Robert Fripp for a while, great stuff. His label hated it.

I have gained respect for Darryl Hall as a musician/vocalist after watching “Live from Darryl’s House.” Hall wouldn’t have been as good of a fit as Hagar, but I think he could have pulled it off.

Eddie musta been on a bit of a bender when he made that request. Eddie admitted the cocaine gave him energy and alcohol lowered his inhibitions so that he could write songs. The story of Eddie reaching out to Darryl Hall has been around for a while.
