Johnson rode to power on back of conservatives. But he is more like a libertarian. Britain did what Russia has done and is doing a zillion times over. Wasn’t much of the world to takeover except for lands in the asiatic regions mostly

I agree with this statement.
The British were late to the party sometimes, but still became the Big Dog over European competitors.
The British didn’t have the culture & prestige of France even after defeating France in a variety of wars.
What made Britain number one was Commerce, Commerce, Commerce, Commerce, and more Commerce.
