He also spent a couple of years in Nazi concentration camps, but the Putin propaganda team skips that part. Bandera was involved in fighting against both Russia and Germany, and in the second world war in Ukraine many people were killed. In the years leading up to WW2 millions of Ukrainians were killed by Russian communists.
Bandera's group also helped hide Jews from the Nazis, and saved many people with forged documents and other assistance.

The situation in Ukraine during the second world war was not as simple as propagandists would like to portray it today. Sadly, anti-semitism and prejudice against Jewish people was common in the Ukraine and many other places. Some Ukrainians fighting against the Russians who had already conducted a holocaust against them, killing millions, allied themselves with the Germans.
Bandera was killed by the KGB, a group that also persecuted Jews across Russia.
