There is more shit on streets of San Francisco than Mexico City.
:::::There is much more to the story but yes, that is part of the story.:::::
Yes, I am simplifying to make the comparison about spending money on the GND to our own peril as a waste of time and treasure.
The other factors I see that are similar are:
1) heavy central authority and regulation
2) Satellite countries (states) reasserting their authority/power.
3) and individual/ leader (Lech) widely known who won’t give up no matter the cost.
Anything else your eyes see that might encourage us?
Perfectly illustrates the difference.
Tell Putin that there is not a hole deep enough for him to hide in that he will not be incinerated to a crisp in the retaliation that would come his way.
Why, yes. We need to get majorities in the Senate and House, and get an "all of the above" market-driven policy on energy. It can be done, but will take some work. My elected officials in Illinois are too far gone, but I'm hoping the coutry pulls us back from the AOC-driven GND.
Simple fact is a bankrupt cop has no business getting involved in foreign wars, with debt bigger than GDP.

“USA attacked Cuba when Cuba imported USSR weapons.”
Attacked how?
We blocked Soviet OFFENSIVE NUCLEAR weapons systems and their supporting materiel. We did not interdict anything else. We didn’t board and seize any Cuban vessels. We didn’t damage any Cuban property, and we didn’t kill any Cubans. Cuba, however, did shoot down an American surveillance U2 and killed its pilot, Major Rudolph Anderson.
I like that!
“Who’s “Regan”?”
The little girl in “The Exorcist?”
When Germany pitched a military alliance with Mexico in 1917 the United States went to war against Germany. We’ve been lucky so far maybe.
I have not advocated the U. S. get involved.
To the contrary I have said the U. S. should not get involved
at all.
That could be a comforting position for an individual, but as a national policy the globe would suffer entropy (coincidence?). We would soon face the wrath of either or both China and Russia with their strong global footprint.
How long would an isolated Fortress America be able to survive a siege? How long would it take for the likes of a Biden WH to surrender?
The trick to effectively confronting aggression is to maintain a modest world-wide footprint that serves to provide a global balance of power. That would require allies and the question becomes what would such allies demand in return?
The Zimmermann Telegram.
It means Russia must be humiliated, limited, shattered, divided and destroyedThe Nomenclatura needs to be destroyed. Both within Russia and without.
What are the specific US national security interests in becoming overtly involved in the Russian-Ukraine war?
If Putin is gotten rid of and Russian destabilized, what makes those geniuses in the White House think that the replacement will be any better. Historically, odds are, it would be worse.
Look at what has happened in the United States. There was a coup against Trump and his replacement, Biden, is setting the world on fire.
Georgia and Ukraine. What is the 3rd nation you allude to? If you mean Moldova, the Transnistra conflict broke out before the devolution of the USSR. If your are alluding to Chechnya, it was, and still is a part of the Russian federation.
Regardless, the U.S is still in the war stakes since the ending of the USSR.Serbia, Iraq, Afghanistan,Libya. Throw in Syria too I guess
I was in Gitmo at the time. 5th Grade.
The US posture was defensive, but you’re right. We didn’t attack anything.
“How long would an isolated Fortress America be able to survive a siege?”
Quite a long, long time!
Russia has veto power over peace.
