This Russia/Ukraine thing is a lot like a drunk husband punching his pregnant wife in the stomach screaming ‘How dare you do this!’
But hell, we have biden so at least 30-50% of people on this site think it’s a good thing just from that.
“Putin went to war. This is all on that POS.”
He would be stupid and derelict not to.
Yeah, he was really forced into this. What a joke.
The three of us and our families and others capable of physical challenges and suitably equipped might deal with the difficulties fairly well for a while. But just imagine the chaos created by non-citizens and those citizens that currently do not contribute to society - sizable crowds all looking for food, weapons, loot and hostages.
Once it starts slipping away the rate of decline will quicken, I would estimate 2-3 generations at max assuming no foreign intervention but am unaware of any studies or models on the question.
I have thought that Putin was a problem for Russia and beyond.
It wasn’t something I spoke out a lot about. There wasn’t
anything we could do about it. I let nature take its course.
Perhaps that was a mistake.
Now folks think he’s some sort of defender of the citizens of
the West.
People don’t realize that this is the tactic of every
adventurist. They try to sell the idea they are doing this
for the benefit of the people (and nation) they are
conquering.
Lenin, Hitler, Mao, Fidel Castro, Pol Pot, Ho Chi Minh, Hugo
Chavez... this was something each of them claimed on the
way to taking over.
It always winds up the same. Putin isn’t communistic. He
still comes closer than others he accuses, to being more
like one nation that invaded his nation twice.
None the less, I did advocate for the United States to hold
talks with Russia, and let him feel like he was one of the
boys. He could walk tall in front of his nations, and not
really have any power.
We could have held summits. We could have made it look like
he was more than he was, for domestic consumption.
Sometimes you need to do that rather than allow the guy
to team up with your other enemies.
Putin was never going to be a real asset to us. He might
not have been the adversary he is now.
Chechnya and other regions in the Russian Federation are like states within the U.S I spose, but with a greater ethno/religious identity. The conflict was thus an internal one. Brutal yes, but permissable under the Russian Fed constitution. You could imagine it as the U.S central governnent using the military to crush Oklahoma declaring itself to be an independent country
I simply think that it comes down to a lot of people on this site think we should be nuked cause of the biden situation. There’s really no other explanation for it.
Exactly.
:::::Who’s “Regan”?::::: For the second time, it is a fat-fingered version of "Reagan". Bless me father for I have sinned and misspelled Ronaldus Magnus' last name.
You just know that U.S hubris is gonna try regime change in Russia. Will you ever learn
As long as they were sill part of the Russian federation, I
would agree.
If they had obtained sovereignty, I wouldn’t.
I would see it as your state example as long as they were a
part of the federation.
I’m not an expert on the federation status though. It those
areas had tried to break away and had been thwarted, I would
see that as the same as Russia refusing to let any of the
former Soviet Territories to break away.
If it was traditional Russian territory going back, I could
see Russia having a right to refuse core areas to break
away.
Can’t be entirely unreasonable about that.
I think they recognize a ‘third way’ (New World Order) as a
real threat to the West and global peace.
These corporate leader wanna-bees, seek to move behind the
scenes and take over global power.
I view them as an evil entity on the level of a James Bond
villian.
In one of the most recent movies (and spilling over), there
was an entity that tried to take control of global water
rights. I think it was a pretty good model for what is
taking place now. It’s a decent enough acolyte for people
to use when trying to explain the ‘Third Way’ movement. > IMO
That fat finger spelling was frequent and interesting during those years, and brought back interesting memories from that exact discrepancy all those decades back. :)
A lot of Russian territory now is the result of colonisation.Bear in mind though,Russia’s colonialism was land based mostly, whilst Euros hit the high seas. You could see chechens as akin to natives in U.S or south America etc.
On the subject of current territorial expansion question, Russia has been pretty restrained since the demise of the USSR if you think about other former USSR republics that it could have excised pieces out of to incorporate ethnic russians into Russia proper, apart from transnistra,Ukraine
They will stop attacking - once NATO stops trying to bring NATO forces to Russia’s borders. That is aggression pure and simple. Russia is our enemy sure, but Ukraine not being part of the EU or NATO is just common sense.
Ukraine is a third world shit hole run by Biden cartels and the oligarch Zelensky. What’s your point ?
Are you a bot?
Only because Cuba relented faster than delivery of a Jimmy John’s sandwich. Granada was not so lucky.
“But just imagine the chaos created by non-citizens and those citizens that currently do not contribute to society - sizable crowds all looking for food, weapons, loot and hostages.”
Perhaps you missed my last post before you posted your comment. In a nutshell, I said that non-citizens and many Democrats would beat feet and leave, but the rest of us would stay, and that we’d be okay.
I have not seen any Russian soldiers on US streets. While I am more capitalist than most, if Russians choose to install a communist system of government it is their business.
Incidentally when I worked for a main street US corporation for quarter of a century, we had no problem selling our machines to communist countries like Poland, Czechoslovakia, etc. but we never could sell anything in Japan. Their restrictions on imports were very harsh, while we were importing Japanese cars by the millions without harsh tariffs.
