Weather you fought in Vietnam or Iraq doesn’t mean you fought for nothing. As much as these ventures were basically folly, I will never dishonor those that fought hard. Like my son.

Yes, their service was honorable no matter the circumstances they were placed in.
Agreed
“will never dishonor those that fought hard. Like my son.”
Totally agree! My son too survived the cesspools of Ramadi....but 15 of his buddies didn’t.
Our leadership dishonored their sacrifices just like Afghanistan.
I’ll never listen to Lindsey Graham and his Neo cons ever again....it’s all about the money. Stop the Ukraine nonsense.
Iraq was not “folly”. I was there for 3 1/2 years. Almost everything you’ve been fed about the war and its results is fraudulent deception. It was done as crass political manipulation to elect a D Congress in 2006 and D President in 2008. Many FReepers bought it hook, line and sinker and hold fast to it even today.
A few things to consider.
-The war was authorized due to Saddam refusing to comply with UN inspection requirements and resolutions, not “WMDs”. That reason is a media creation. Saddam and the media seemed to work together to hide Iraq’s WMDs. See: Hallabja, 1988.
-Saddam and ISIS are gone. Iraq no longer poses a threat to anyone.
-The WMDs and 500 tons of uranium were removed. WMD facilities were destroyed.
-Military national expansion (Ba’athism) was repudiated by an international force.
-Iraq was transitioned to a constitutional, representative republic.
-The US retains three bases in Iraq at the request and approval of the Iraqi government for regional stability.
etc, etc. But sycophants live in another world so I’ll stop wasting my time.
