I live in a small town and hear church bells twice a day. Noon and 5 PM. They are lovely. It is not, however a call to prayer. For me it is a time reminder.
Can’t they just use cell phone notifications or text messages?

The public call to prayer is a relic from the days before modern timekeeping and was a feature of exclusively Muslim countries. There is no place for it in modern America. “But what about Christian church bells?” They are non-verbal and do not project a specific message.
