We used to have ducks lay their eggs on the roof of my office building. People would go on the roof to smoke, see the ducklings and tell the doorman to call Animal Control. They would net the ducklings and mom, drive them to a nearby pond. If the ducklings hatched on the weekend, no one went up to the roof, the crows would get them.
One time, mom wasn’t caught. She somehow caught up with them after the kids went into the building and went for a ride.
Apparently, a few ducks did this each year. Dumb or smart?
