As Hong Kong's outbreak became the deadliest in the world, among the aid Beijing sent to the financial hub were 1 million packets of honeysuckle, rhubarb root, sweet wormwood herb and other natural ingredients, all mixed according to principles of traditional Chinese medicine.
Practitioners of the centuries-old medicinal system argue such herbal combinations can be just as effective as antiviral pills like Pfizer Inc's Paxlovid.

The Chinese home remedy is “a hair of the bat” that you bit.
I’d take this stuff before I’d take the vaxx.
There’s benefit in aspects of traditional Chinese medicine - just as there is in their traditional philosophy. (People here aren’t constantly quoting Lao Tze and Sun Tzu for nothing.)
Chinese culture existed for thousands of years before the communists came along and ruined everything.
Ditto.
“It’s [h]erbal, [H]erb!”
“Herb.”
I’d say a lot of it is the placebo effect, people expecting something to work.
Though many of our modern manufactured drugs had natural origins and some old-school medical practices do help many people.
3 April: Daily Mail: Maverick MP using ivermectin after testing positive to Covid - despite drug being BANNED as a virus treatment in Australia
By ASHLEY NICKEL
Queensland MP George Christensen has turned to the unapproved anti-parasitic drug ivermectin after being diagnosed with Covid.
The unvaccinated federal member for Dawson revealed in a Facebook post he is taking a prescribed course of vitamins and ivermectin after testing positive on Sunday.
Christensen said his ‘haters’ would ‘hope for something horrible to happen’ but insisted he was recovering well.
‘In reality, I’ve had worse cases of the man flu. And yes, I’m not vaccinated!,’ he said...
‘You can never be too careful though so I’m taking good ol’ Lemsip, Panadol, aspirin, Betadine anaesthetic lozenges, zinc, vitamin D, vitamin C as well as a couple of antivirals I can’t mention on Facebook.
‘Interestingly, as soon as I took the prescribed antiviral course I felt heaps better.’...
‘Thankfully I was prescribed these antivirals by a GP for Covid treatment before one of them was banned for such usage in Australia.
‘Not that I want to brag about that fact but just explain that I have gotten in lawfully and am using it in a manner prescribed by a physician.’...
In his Sunday Facebook post he again questioned the September decision to ban the drug as treatment for Covid.
‘For anyone that’s read ‘The Real Anthony Fauci’ by Robert F. Kennedy, they will know the banning of antivirals for treating and preventing Covid has to have been the most stupid decision made by health authorities during the entire pandemic,’ he wrote...
Christensen resigned from his role on a parliamentary committee earlier this month after Prime Minister Scott Morrison held high-level discussions about the Dawson MP after he advised parents to not let their children receive the Covid vaccine.
Christensen will be replaced in the upcoming federal election by the twice-elected Whitsunday mayor Andrew Willcox as the LNP’s candidate for Dawson...

some MSM are referencing the latest Ivermectin study (which didn’t include ZINC) as more “proof” Ivermectin doesn’t work.
Not the same formula but I’ve taken Gan Mao Ling both as a prophylactic and a cure for cold and flu many times. Knocks respiratory viruses right out if taken at the first symptoms.
I use an old thing called ‘U-I oil’. You can buy it in any Chinatown pharmacy.
Try rubbing it on your joints, if they’re hurting; or breathe it a little and rub on your chest if you have a cold and congestion.
Works as well or a lot better than the typical stuff in an American drugstore.
I see you can buy it online U-I Oil (Wong Cheung Wah) - 1 Fl. Oz. (25 ml) - 1 bottle for $18.
Little too rich for my blood, if I were in the market for something, I’d probably go with Ben Gay or some blue ice type thing.
Suit yourself.
(I assume you checked Amazon? It’s a lot cheaper than that if you actually go to an online Chinese pharmacy - and you get a bigger bottle. And if you actually GO to a store, it’s even cheaper. Chinese Americans aren’t going to pay the prices that Americans do :-)
That looks interesting.
I’ve often used Boiron’s Oscillococcinum when I’ve felt cold or flu symptoms coming on. I’m convinced that it greatly shortens the misery, and I swear by it.
But it’s homeopathic, and would probably get the same short shrift here that other natural things do.
I already have my own herbal remedies thank you 🤪
