Not at all. It could be that Americans are switching from pork and chicken to beef, which would not affect the vegan intake at all. Also, it is possible that more people are avoiding meat, but others are eating more than they normally would (keto diet).

Eventually, we'll be Eloi and Morlocks.

It’s also possible that with improved efficiencies of inventory control, refrigeration monitoring and transportation we are now losing much less meat to spoilage and are actually eating more than ever.
