It is clear that the west provoked Putin to invade. The current head of the CIA wrote the “Nyet means Nyet” memo in 2008 while the ambassador. They knew that attempts to bring Georgia or Ukraine into NATO would 100% certainly provoke Russia to invade. This is why they ramped up the NATO talk as soon as Biden took office.
If I told you... “Don’t scream at me or I will punch you with 100% certainty. I am not bluffing. I will punch you if you scream at me.”...and then you screamed at me, you would intentionally be provoking me to punch you. It doesn’t mean that I would be right. It doesn’t mean that I was justified. But it would mean that you knew the consequences of your actions and chose to do it anyway.
With that being said, the Democrats AND the Republicans supported the coup in 2014, courted the Ukraine leaders to join NATO and precipitated this war for the BILLIONS of dollars they have funneled to the charities (Clinton Foundation) and weapons manufacturers because that money gets funneled back to them.
The outcome has been devastating. Hundreds of thousands will die needlessly. Russia would have been able to take and hold territory if Ukraine wasn’t playing the dangerous game of using US intelligence and special operators. I just really hope that Russia is never able to prove it because the consequences for Ukraine and the US will then be magnified 10 fold. Of course, when I say “the US” I am referring to the middle class and our service members. The billionaires and the political class will just end up making even more money.
Why else do you think Ukraine sent troops to Afghanistan? It was part of proving it "deserved" NATO membership. So the whole issue of Ukraine potentially becoming a member has been on the table -- publicly -- for well over a decade. This was nothing new.
But despite NATO rejecting Russian's position that those countries should never be admitted, Ukrainian admission to NATO wasn't even close to happening. There was a lot of opposition within NATO, Ukraine still had failed to meet a bunch of benchmarks/conditions set by NATO, and there wasn't any vote anywhere on the horizon. There is no credible claim that Ukraine joining NATO was imminent.
So then why did Putin choose now to attack, when NATO's position was the exact same as it had been for decades? It's because Putin was getting old, wasn't in great health, and thought that his chance to reconstitute the former Soviet Union was slipping away. He attacked not because the Russia itself was threatened, but because of his imperial ambitions of conquest. That's it.
supported the coup in 2014,
***Baloney. There was no coup in 2014. You have simply bought into Russki propagandski.
