16% Excess Deaths is huge.
Last year’s Covid death count was largely pure. All were excess deaths, offset by hand sanitizing reducing flu deaths, but those are never more than a few 10s of thousands. Covid killed 400K last year in the US.
The point being that Covid erased 1.8 years from US life expectancy in the combination 2020 and 2021. When the summer surge arrives in the US, as it did the last two years, that 16% overseas number would be ugly here — though just among elderly the 400K number last year was 23% Excess.
These are huge numbers. We cannot have a society watching life expectancy falling each year.
