The New York Times published a bewildering, disturbing story today on U.S. intelligence and the Ukraine–i.e., U.S. Lacks a Clear Picture of Ukraine’s War Strategy, Officials Say.
But despite the flow of all this news to the public, American intelligence agencies have less information than they would like about Ukraine’s operations and possess a far better picture of Russia’s military, its planned operations and its successes and failures, according to current and former officials.
Governments often withhold information from the public for operational security. But these information gaps within the U.S. government could make it more difficult for the Biden administration to decide how to target military aid as it sends billions of dollars in weapons to Ukraine.
I am sure that the average layperson read the piece and was not alarmed. But those with even a modicum of intelligence experience were shocked by the revelations in this piece.

Of course, they see the handwriting on the wall. Any illusions the Ukies will somehow regain the Donbass provinces is a dream. They couldn’t do it since 2015. The video interview of the Ukie Guard commander defecting is the point- reality- his home will be absorbed into the Independent Donbass, why not apply for citizenship with the new government?
That said, (right or wrong), the reality is the murmuring for Zelensky’s ouster is growing, and once Vlad fully secures the eastern provinces those murmurs will become cries, especially if Vlad can close the pocket cutting off and capturing the estimated 12-15,000 Ukies.
The corrupted little beggar Zelensky will then have to finally get to the negotiating table quickly before Vlad is forced to take Odessa as his war hawks and certain Russians are clamoring for. Vlad has shown much restraint, I am sure he is aware Odessa may just be “ a bridge to far”. Stay tuned.
So you watch pro-Kremlin Russian videos about the tactical situation. Why should I care? Still not responsive to anything I said. Kadyrov is a buffoon.

He is much worse, he is an Islamist. But the reality is a buffoon, or Islamist, or what ever, his troops are a very effective fighting force as we have witnessed in
Mariupol with the Ukie surrender.
He’s not a nice guy, but that’s not my point. First I’m not sure that the conquest of Mariupol over two months at enormous cost by a vastly superior force shows signs of brilliance by anybody, but regardless, my bigger issue is that the Chechens did not do the bulk of the fighting. Kadyrov and his guys are tiktok warriors. Their contribution to the Russian war effort is marginal.
You would think we would have learned something from 2 years of othering and depersoning people during the plandemic.
The Chechens have put the past wars with Russia behind them, realizing that jihadi ideology was imposed on them from the West through the Saudis. They are a different nation now, and are loyal Russians and die hard patriots. The Russian people themselves embrace them as they do the other 140 nationalities that more or less live in harmony in the Federation despite the many CIA color revolutions imposed on it. If you’re honest, it’s clear that Russia is doing the E Pluribus Unum thing way better with a hundred disparate nationalities and races than America is doing with just 4 cultures: Whites, Native Americans, Mexicans and blacks.
