A hero dog credited with defending her female owner from a mountain lion attack in Northern California has died, the woman said Wednesday.
Eva, a 2.5-year-old Belgian Malinois, began having seizures last weekend at her home, Erin Wilson, 24, told the Sacramento Bee. Her condition worsened from there, despite being taken to an animal hospital at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.

“We said goodbye at 9:20 this morning,” the post said. “There were no changes to her condition overnight. Goodbye my beautiful sweet girl. You are my world, my light, my best friend. The world is a much darker place.”

Too bad
Bimbo went hiking in mountain lion country with no gun, and her dog gave its life to protect the idiot.
It is always so sad to lose a beloved pet. They are like family.

Bimbo is Italian for little boy.
When we lived in a city in California we often saw coyotes running down the sidewalk next to our house. California has a lot of wildness right up close to homes.
Where we live now we have mountain lions, foxes, skunks, bats, hawks, wild hogs, coyotes, etc. all over the place. As more houses are built the wild things come closer all the time.
Scary, sad truth..

Send a few hunters out to bag some pumas and the others will get the idea.
She went hiking on a common trail, and she was less than a mile from a parking lot. Usually mountain lion attacks happen when mountain lions wander in human territtory.
When lion hunting with dogs was legal and common, lions showed fear of even a single, small dog.
In America, it refers to an idiotic female. She was able to count on her dog. Too bad her dog couldn’t count on her.
Very formidable looking dog, but it was still pet vs. predator.
She ran to to her truck, got a 2x4, and ran back and hit the mountain lion until it took off.
Actually, the majority of mountain lion attacks happen when humans go on hiking trails exactly like she was on. She was unprepared to protect herself, or her dog. In celebrating the heroism of the dog, we should always remember that she was an idiot.
Do you have any citation for that? Most mountain lions prefer deer as prey. You are parroting radical environmentalist information.
Since 1986, there have only been 19 verified mountain lions attacks in the state of California, not what your radical enviro buddies propaganda says.
So very sad…… I would think that she would have known there were Mountain lions in the area…. I never would have gone walking knowing there were possibilities of an attack…. But that’s just me…
Absolute nonsense!
They are better than family!;-)
Food isn’t the issue.
So radical environmentalists prefer to carry guns to protect themselves on trials and their dogs or not?
And can these radicals prove that these animals will never attack them or their dogs, food or not?
If you haven't visited that area of northern california you may not know
how wild and desolate that area is.
I would not go hiking in many areas in the US without a gun for protection. Poor dog. Was a real beauty.
