Democrats were promising that the prime-time TV extravaganza presented by the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2020 riot at the Capitol last Thursday would be “must-see TV.”
Apparently, most Americans decided it was “must miss.” The Nielsen ratings for that night are out, and it appears that the audience for the event was smaller than for a Young Sheldon rerun episode that CBS ran in the same time period the previous week.
The audience for the “Capitol Assault Hearings” was about the same size as nightly news broadcasts last week, according to the ratings. Nearly every major news network and the Big Three of CBS, NBC, and ABC covered the hearings.

Just 3.24 million people watched the network’s “Capitol Assault Hearings” coverage Thursday night, according to the TV Ratings Guide. Exactly one week prior, 3.86 million people tuned into CBS to watch a Young Sheldon rerun, meaning an old episode of the coming-of-age sitcom garnered roughly 600,000 more viewers than the inaugural hearing.

True. But the fact that more people prefer to watch the antics of a fictitious child genius than the antics of a bunch of eilitist snobs, certified idiots, fools, sexual deviants and otherwise non-consequential jackwagons, gives me hope for the future of this nation.

Young Sheldon is hilarious! Such great writing! I’m on my second time around watching this season. Every one of the main characters are outstanding comedians!
I agree and I don’t watch sitcoms generally but this one has got it all together.
Just when you think a character is just too much of a caricature, they do something that shows their humanity, like that loony pastor being straight up serious when he fired Mary. I think they handle the tension between the religious folks and the atheists very well, with all its contradictions, like pious Mary having gotten pregnant before marriage. The boozy, gambling, glamorous and very smart grandmother is just priceless, as is the redneck brother and the sister with the high EQ. The faculty and administration of the school and university, and the “regular guy” dad—all terrific!
I’m waiting for the musical “Insurrection!”to come out. Done in the style of “Hamilton”. Maybe with the same cast.

I met a child genius about fifteen years ago who was working on the engineering and programming to develop smart rovers for unmanned development of the Moon with swarm technology using OOP programming to make flat landscape.
He seem a bit defensive and leery of our group that we would make fun of him so he was a bit cranky to show us around the lab. Science is a brutal business. What was astounding I never have seen an more impressed and positive reaction to a young man doing what he did from any group I was with. I did not hear one peep of condescension of his work or age and many stories after about him. I hope our positive experience helped him and that there are people who cared. It is these types of kids that I hope will take humanity to our next steps.
