Juneteenth celebrates the day news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached Texas. It has been celebrated in Texas for years, by the decendants of the people whom the Emancipation Proclamation freed. About 2 years ago the national cultural appropriationists appropriated it as a national holiday, much like Cinco de Mayo. Its actual origins are now already almost lost to history...

It marks the day that Republican bayonets reached Galveston Texas. Thus ENFORCING Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.

The ‘news’ had not bearing on the event.

The democrats armies had to be defeated first.

This event marks the end of the war between the democrats and the Republicans.
