No. Per the constitution, the House can vote for anyone. Obviously, every speaker till now has been a member, but it is not required.

I don’t know if McCarthy would play along.
I don’t know if McCarthy would play along.
Now this is a Trump campaign I can get behind...
A perfect spot for him.

Root is quite tuned in to PDJT, and has been for decades before Trump ran for President. The Speaker position for him doesn’t make sense to me, but if info is coming from Root, I might pay attention.
Delicious to ponder but extremely doubtful a majority of the uniparty would ever vote for Trump.
Never happen, different ballgame there and Trump as a freshman congressman would never be Speaker.
Not what I meant. The post of Speaker requires one to have a pretty detailed knowledge of Parliamentary Procedure and other skills which Trump does not have and a innate knowledge of those in the House. His chances of getting the Republicans to go along in such a challenge will not fly as those who have been there and wanted to rise to that office will not support him. Pure politics.
I don’t know about all this stuff coming via Root. Trump has said more than once he won’t be running for Speaker.
He might as well. We know McCarthy won’t be doing a damn thing to help matters.
There are only a few spines in the US Senate, so 67 votes is very unlikely.
I’m in... Game ON. Play ball.
No chance that a non-congressman is going to be elected Speaker. Zero. It’s about the same level of possibility as the crazies with their “natural born citizen” mantra getting Obama kicked out of the White House.
I really do wish he would do this n
He would, like LBJ, still be eligible for a second full term. LBJ didn’t run because he didn’t think he could win.
No.
