Been hearing and saw video of this crossing...no gates not even flashing lights for a warning. The road just goes across the tracks.
You would think that would add to the truck driver being even more cautious when crossing unless he wasn’t familiar with it.
Sad though...to be sure.

My son and I have a deer lease in rural OK where we have to cross the BNSF Transcon tracks with no marking beyond cross-bucks and a Stop sign. Since our lease is about a mile away from that crossing, we can hear the amount of rail traffic carried on that line so we’ve learned to carefully approach the crossing because the sight-lines are restricted by the angle of the crossing plus trees on both sides of the track. If we were crossing those rails on a daily basis, it might become easy to be complacent rather than careful.
Maybe the problem was noise cancelling ear buds.
I would beet that there are MORE of such unmarked crossing all around the USA than the ones with the bars & lights.
