Stihl stores are like 7-11s around here. I’d say stay away from big box stores.

Kinda depends on your application I think.
If your just pruning in your yard I think you’d be ok.
However all the pro work I’ve hired to do on my trees those guys use Stihl pretty much exclusively.
Another thing, my research before purchase included scanning youtube videos for reviews......OMG chainsaw porn is as bad as gun porn! Lol!
