John Bolton casually admitted in an interview on Tuesday that he has helped planned coups abroad.
Afterward, Sen. Rand Paul said that blocking Bolton from becoming secretary of state in 2016 was one of his “proudest moments.”
Paul told Politico in November 2016, “I’ll do whatever it takes to stop someone like John Bolton being secretary of state. He’s opposed to everything Donald Trump ran on: that the Iraq war was a mistake, regime change made us less safe in the Middle East, including in Iraq.”
Less safe indeed. Bolton’s foreign policy impulse toward any country is usually to bomb them.
Paul continued, referring to Trump’s ‘America First’ foreign policy rhetoric, “I don’t know how a President Trump could appoint someone who’s diametrically opposed to everything Donald Trump ran on.”
Bolton claimed in his 2020 book that Trump wanted to nominate him for secretary of state, but the president said that he feared Paul would block his nomination.
Paul would not budge on Bolton. At all.

Thank you Senator Paul!
“Thank you Senator Paul!”
Agreed!
Bolton is a neocon scumbag.
10 years ago here, Bolton would’ve been lauded and Sen Paul smeared. Glad people wised up.
Trump opened our eyes to a LOT of things.
He has a way of unmasking people. Or, to put it better - he has a way of making people unmask themselves.
and before that Voinovich blocked him from what was it, National Security Advisor?
“10 years ago here, Bolton would’ve been lauded and Sen Paul smeared. Glad people wised up.”
10 years ago — well, maybe more like 12 — I thought Bolton was a pretty smart guy. He did some good things while he was the US Representative to the UN under the Bush II administration. I still thought he had some smarts when Trump first tapped him as National Security Advisor, but my mind began to change almost immediately.
As for Rand Paul, I have always liked him, and have always respected him (though I did not always agree with him); I respected him because he was honest about where he was coming from.
Very true.
Bolton really did turn out to be an enemy of MAGA. A lot of us didn’t see that coming including myself.
So did I. I thought Trump made a good choice when he hired Bolton.
Wrong, wrong, wrong.
Rand Paul has always seemed to come off as honest and he always stands up for what he believes in. Unlike most politicians, he can’t be bought off.
Bolton is alright but he does tend to drift into the Bizarre LOL
And bolton gets round the clock protection, courtesy of the US taxpayer due to “credible threats”.
I’d love to see the intel on that.
I pray that President Donald Trump Becomes President again. If he does, he really needs to pay consulting fees to Rand Paul for HR advice. And maybe other consultants also. And start with a clean slate in several departments. DHS, State, Energy(delete), Education, Justice, Military Joint Chiefs, did I say Energy.....
You are exactly right.
“Rand Paul has always seemed to come off as honest and he always stands up for what he believes in. Unlike most politicians, he can’t be bought off.”
That’s what I think, as well.
POS neocon walrus
‘Bolton was the best SOS we never had’. Read it here. He fooled a lot of us.
Paul? He just might make a great POTUS. Doesn’t’t suffer fools gladly.
Rand Paul for Trump’s New VP.
