that the Iraq war was a mistake
Always nice to clarify WHICH Iraq war.
The GHWBush "Desert Storm" of the 90's seemed legit enough and little collateral damage or lingering effects.
The GWBush Iraq invasion and war of the 2000's was a complete disaster completely manufactured by our's truly Dubya himself.
Was Bolton actively in favor of the 2000's debacle? If so, he is a loon. A blind man could see how phony that invasion was and its corrupt motives were confirmed by how miserable the ever-lingering consequences were.
regime change made us less safe in the Middle East, including in Iraq
What regime change?
Sarah Palin was against him when she appeared on Life, Liberty & Levin.
I like Rand but his foreign policy mindset is way too rigid and isolationist.
Seems like Trump handled the foreign policy as well as any could. I think Rand would be a disaster in that role.
I think Rand is a good stalwart Constitutionalist where he is. We need more like him in D.C. who treat the Constitution, as written and originally intended and understood, as the Supreme Law of the Land.

Rand Paul is a senator, not a national security advisor, nor is he in the State Department. He is great where he is. Though, I’d kind of like to see him at Treasury!

Absolutely.

I think Rand is a good stalwart, principled, and honest Constitutionalist where he is. We need more like him in D.C. who treat the Constitution, as written and originally intended and understood, as the Supreme Law of the Land.
Bolton is a two-faced SOB. No loyalty. He’s always in it for only himself.
I’ll stand up with you. He took me for a sucker too. He was a good fraudster.
Rand’s foreign policy is off, but his domestic views are stellar. The Senate is the best place for him
Wow! The difference in tone here is AMAZING! (amazingly better)
Donald Trump did more for the Republican Party than anyone I can remember (including Reagan, though that is a HIGH bar!), by exposing the fact that neocons are just statist/socialists who like war (and the profits that come from it).
This was almost a religious heresy here on FR back thru the prior two decades. (Yes, I lurked). It was not a position that was even tolerated, much less endorsed.
It is so nice to see the golden dawn of TRUE conservatism, which, at the core, means minding our own business and letting others mind theirs. If that perspective ever catches on in America (coupled with a genuine Christian revival), we will have another “golden age” of the Republic.
One can wish, can’t they? /smile
Exactly how I feel about him.
I wish somehow he could more strongly advance the idea of reinstating the Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land as the key to restoring our Free Constitutional Republic.
I’d really love to see President Paul.
