I hope people stop using "based". Adults are supposed to use real words, not made up ones. Or if it is a real word, use the commonly-accepted definition.

Based is a shortened form of the phrase "Reality Based".

Shortened forms are often acceptable although I do not approve as I feel they make communication unclear and therefore unreliable.
