I’m betting the 17 number is from 1 night of drug/alcohol fueled partying, that someone told her about the next day.
And 45 that she remembers - double that and you are likely close. But she misses the point - women still have complete control over their pregnancy - just get on one of the dozens of options for contraceptives as directed. Really not that hard. That cuts down on pregnancies by 99-99.9%.
