A woman in New York died on Wednesday after her family's dog attacked her.
When the woman's husband arrived at the couple's home on Long Island at about 1 p.m., he discovered that his wife was dead after being attacked by the family's pit bull, according to FOX 5.
The pit bull was violent and went after police officers when they arrived, and they ended up killing the dog.
Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder described the scene as "horrific."

“The scene was pretty horrific. We don’t know what time the attack took place,” Ryder said. “There was obviously a lot of mutilation on the body, legs, face.”
The 7-year-old dog originally belonged to the family’s stepson, who died a few weeks ago in a motorcycle crash, according to the report.
Breed of peace.
The dog was in mourning was trying to get his life together…
Such pleasant little beasts
Nature, Gaia.
How did that work? Wouldn't he either be the woman's son and the man's stepson, or the man's son and the woman's stepson? I suppose he could have been either the woman's or the man's stepson from a previous marriage, and then he'd be the step-stepson of the other spouse.
Anyway, the deaths of both the stepson and the step-parent are very sad.
Oh that's right.. You need a PERMIT to keep a lion.
EUTHANIZE THE BREED. There's a REASON animal shelters are FULL OF PIT BULLS: Even their OWNERS BECOME AFRAID OF THEM!
Shouldn’t pit bull owners be required to get a permit? And have their social media checked first?
How many people are mauled and killed by other breeds?
I think people who keep dangerous animals as”pets” have issues.
“Well, MY pit bull has always been gentle and wouldn’t hurt a..Down boy! Stop! STOP!! .ARRRGGHH.....!!!!”
How unusual!
He dindu nuffin.
Sounds like a dominance issue. Dog lost his master who was alpha, the parents took him in, mom gave an order and dog challenged. These dogs are not fluffy little love balls, they are serious dogs that should not be in pet homes with inexperienced owners. Personally I would never own one and I’ve owned several difficult breeds.
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.
Agreed! Like being bonded to at least 10K$.
“...who died a few weeks ago in a motorcycle crash...” that might have had something to do with it.
From the article.
We had a pit rescue picked up off the streets of NOLA. She was feral and we had her for ten years. I’ve had labs, goldens, Chesapeake bay retrievers, Shepards and mutts, the pit was the gentlest, smartest and most loyal of the bunch.
One case proves nothing, I know but I’d take that dog back in a heartbeat.
