Like putting a tutu on your German Shepherd.
Actually, my wife and 2 DILs often used my Honda Ridgeline and me to haul stuff from Home Depots/nurseries to their homes and ours, then to the junkyard with old plant junk.
No Ridgeline now, so I don’t do that anymore.
I used it for fly fishing and hauling kayaks. I felt safe in putting expensive fly rods/reels/waders into the hidden trunk.
Now, I pay our long time yard guy to buy plants, bring them to our yard and plant them where my wife wants them.
The money I save re insurance, general upkeep, the Big O and smogging more than pays for my yard man on those special buy it and haul it to our home.
The yard guy has a semi second life for plants. Some plants get recycled to another customer, and he picks up a few buck. He has “recycled” two crepe myrtles, an olive tree, a pistachio tree and several Japanese Maples to us. All are happy with their new home, our yard. I didn’t have to buy them, transport them home and then plant them. They are watered drip system controlled by electric at set times.
I told my wife that our yard is now like a park, nice/neat and green and I don’t have to work to keep it that way If something needs to be done yard wise, I make a note to call or give to our yard guy.
So there was no real need for our Honda RidgeLine, and a son got an early inheritance, the Ridgeline.
I love a truck that can haul for 70 miles.
Sounds right for the postal service.
We are sometimes seeing some white vans smaller than the Amazon Prime vans/trucks, delivering mail in our area . They sound like they are battery powered. They are not driven by the normal 3-4 USPS drivers in our area.
That’s one application where you have a well defined duty cycle and a lot of overnight time to charge. So it could be a winner.
“before they put school kids on an electric bus they will have mucho safeguards in place.”
Localities are on a normal curve like everything else.
Some will be mucho stupid—including poor maintenance practices.

Our UPS and FEDEX drivers would push for that truck.
Apparently, one of the creative local drivers came up with a lunch hour concept to pick up packages in an unused parking lot for their after lunch/noon deliveries.
So in about 45 minutes, they get a lunch, drop off picked up deliveries and reload for their afternoon delivery run. No driving out of town to their warehouse for what they can get during a lunch hour.
“But a lot of guys have a truck ‘cause it’s “pretty””
You hardly see a pickup these days without a back seat. Wonder why the change from the old days (rhetorical question).
You don’t want to. Trust me. An overpriced POS that is more likely to strand you than a 25 year old Corolla.
How to retrofit battery’s ?
I bought a base model Tacoma in ‘16. It hauls what I need to haul. I’ll have it for a very long time. Screw EVs.
Probably a lot of these “reservations” are people thinking they can flip for a profit.
Bought by people that need a truck for mental reasons. There are many pickups in my work parking lot whose beds aren’t used.
We had a kid crash a Jeep on Interstate 95 early Sunday morning in my neck of the Florida woods. Nobody was wearing seatbelts, passenger was thrown and hit/killed by a passing vehicle. What a mess.
Heard a story about Fed Ex CEO son bought a new electric Hummer.
Wouldn’t start and had to be towed to the dealer. Thing was too damn heavy for the lifts in the dealer shop. Dealers are having to upgrade all their lifts to accommodate these things.
“Nobody was wearing seatbelts, passenger was thrown and hit/killed by a passing vehicle”
An ambulance driver told me that seat belts make a huge difference.
