Shocking surveillance video shows a ‘street takeover’ mob of thieves ransacking a 7-Eleven in Los Angeles Monday night.
“The suspects are facing multiple charges to include grand theft, looting, and vandalism,” the LAPD said in a statement. “We are seeking the public’s help in identifying persons observed on video committing these acts.”
No arrests have been made in connection with the robbery.
NBC Los Angeles reported:
The large crowd gathered for the street takeover on Monday night in the Harbor Gateway area swarmed the store at the corner of Figueroa Street and El Segundo Boulevard in a frenzy of looting and vandalism.
Security camera video showed the large crowd gathering outside the store. Inside, the situation quickly turned into mayhem when dozens of people emptied shelves, threw snacks and beverages, and left with merchandise. Police described the scene as ‘flash mob’ looting.
At least two people jumped over the front counter and threw items to the others in the crowd. A store employee, decisively outnumbered, hid in a back room of the store fearing for his life, police said.
“We really want to prevent this from becoming a new trend where they think they show up and take over a street or a freeway or any part of the city, that they’re just going to be able to do whatever they want,” said LAPD Detective Ryan Moreno.

"Facing" as in: as they get smaller, then tinier in their rear view mirrors.
An Ad or an Add?
They aren't the same.
Nope.
Where is Howard Hunter when we need him most?
Back in the ‘80s, a couple of friends and I would stop at a 7-11 outside the gate at Homestead AFB at about midnight. The door was always locked, the lights dimmed, but if you peered through the door and the beer in the coolers, you could see the flickering of a TV. We’d just beat in the door until the guy came out. He’d see that we were GIs. open the door, and we’d spend a few bucks. Then he’d lock the door behind us, and go back in the cooler. Bad neighborhood.
Meh. They were probably pissed that they had to write up a report for an insurance claim.
The DA has approved this.
California deserves neither sympathy nor assistance with their self-inflicted crime wave.
Gee, I wonder if it will happen again?
Nothing that could not be cleared out with two claymores.
Good luck with that.
No one seems to be asking the 800 lb question: Why is it always blacks? And, please, don’t give me this “down-trodden” crap. They routinely break the law by rioting, looting, and burning, but Al, Jesse, Obama, et al, never step up to the plate and say it’s wrong. You people in SF, Portland, and a bunch of other cites need to do something to take your cities back from the mobs.
Maybe they were celebrating Gascone’s recall survival.
Just what is shocking about this?
Guess the writer hasn’t been following the news out of the country’s cities since January 2009...
That's great. Good on him and your canny instincts. And thank you for your service.
I love stories of the "informal economy."
The next town over.
That’s good.
My first thought was that this was actual security camera footage taken during the recent FBI raid of Mar-a-Lago.
Welcome to the Hotel Newsom-fornia.
