That was funny !
This was my favorite show as a little kid in the mid 70s. Somewhere in the basement of my mothers house lies a Steve Austin doll in a red jump suit that has the ability to arm curl a big block Chevrolet engine!
Watched it in daily syndicated reruns as a kid in the 1970s. We neighborhood kids would play “six million dollar man” be pretending to run in slow motion while making the ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch sound.
1. Didn't the implanted eye of the Austin of "Cyborg" also feature a "Death Ray" as well as photographic camera?
2. With three robotic rather than natural limbs, Austin's dehydration in the desert due to sweating would have been considerably reduced. Further, walking - even vigorously - shouldn't have been a problem in the desert, as far as heat prostration or dehydration were concerned. For him, it would have been like riding a motorcycle in the desert.
3. If he was nuclear powered, does that meant that, when he "went to the bathroom," he excreted spent fuel elements?
Regards,
Peterson fired the landing rockets to provide additional lift, but he hit the lake bed before the landing gear was fully down and locked. The M2-F2 rolled over six times, coming to rest upside down. Pulled from the vehicle by Jay King and Joseph Huxman, Peterson was rushed to the base hospital, transferred to the March Air Force Base Hospital and then the UCLA Hospital. He recovered but lost vision in his right eye due to a staphylococcal infection.

Thus: Loss of eye, but no amputated legs or arm.
Regards,
What made no sense was whenever Steve or Jamie lifted a car high over their heads. Their limbs were bionic, but not their back or shoulders. The car's weight would have ripped the bionic arm right out of its socket.
Even as a teenager, I had that figure out and thought, no way!
Arm and legs but no reinforced spine and he’d lift cars with that arm.
Watching it now myself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOGDggRqkgI
Mid ‘70s. Joe Biden was only a junior Senator.
At 29:40 there is a commercial starring Bruce Jenner.
My younger brother’s friends thought I was Stephanie Powers (in her April Dancer days).
His feats of strength were physically impossible even with a nuclear arm. His spine was still human and would have turned to dust picking up a car. And running 60mph would have also destroyed his spine.
I ridicule people that take the ‘superhero’ films even a little bit seriously.
I’ve only seen clips of ‘ironman’. They are good for a laugh. The difference in height of mr Downey and his costume well,.... and the g forces and impacts, yet he didn’t have brain damage or even pass out....
The inside the helmet shots of his face, as though it’s ten sizes too big...
The only realistic Batman was the tv show: meant to be hilariously ridiculous.
People are amazed at the (very rehearsed, very safe) stunts done by tom cruise. Once a person gets comfortable with skydiving or mountain climbing, realizing you can die just as easy from falling 100’ as you can at 1000’, then having safety gear makes it a safe routine. Just hold your mouth half open for 75% of the screen takes and you too can act like mr cruise. (That percentage comment is from a friend that has actually watched some of cruise’s movies)
Nice!
That was all the charm of the shows. Real life is stressful- we take breaks from real life by watching highly I probsble shows with lots of cheesy stuff In them as a form of therapy- it’s an escape and stress reliever.
Worlds strongest man competitions have them picking up, and carrying, over 1000 lbs for some of their feats. Course that isn’t near the weight of a Buick.
Same here. Loved the tape recorder self destructing on MI as a kid. Watched Hawaii Fünf-Null reruns as a young schoolgirl, when we lived in Switzerland for awhile. It was hilarious in German for some reason. But not as funny as Flipper (”Fleepah! Fleepah!”), Dragnet aka Polizeibericht, Gunsmoke aka Rauchende Colts or Mod Squad aka Twen-Police.
