This is what happens when the left takes over institutions.

It’s what happens when half the voting public are traitors who elect traitors into office and the other half vote for gutless cowards who won’t do anything to bring justice to the traitors when they have the opportunities.

Victor Davis Hanson, a highly educated man, speaks volumes about a United States that can be condensed down to:

The final spasms of a dying empire.

” Every agency available—government, popular culture, science, history, literature, the arts, the university, the media, big tech, the corporate boardroom, and Wall Street—must be subordinated and recalibrated to spot supposed inequality so that they can fix it through reparatory discrimination. All being equal and poorer is preferable to all being richer, but with some richer than others.”

What’s troubling is that all the institutions mentioned weren’t “subjugated. They voluntarily and unnecessarily joined the woke mob enthusiastically. They instantly rolled over seeming without thinking about the opinions of customers or employees. Hundreds of years of traditions, history, science and culture overturned in a second. I don’t see an easy way to turn it around. People will have to learn that there are harsh consequences for destroying Western Civilization.

Great writing by VDH but many of the comments to the article are brilliant. I would recommend perusing them.

We went mad then because we easily could.

Not all of us. And sadly, there are many, many people who still have not come out of their madness. They continue to blather on about “COVID”, and “vaccines”, and will be ready to jump right back into “lockdown” insanity the moment the media and government tell them to do so.

Those who bought into the “COVID” madness are not just foolish and weak-minded, they are a danger to free people everywhere. Their ignorant, selfish, fearful, servile stupidity made the “COVID” tyranny possible.

Ping! Out to the Victor Davis Hanson list

We went mad because we easily could. And we could, not because we were poor and oppressed, but because we were rich and bored.

Travel abroad and or talk to pro-American foreigners here, and you will be surprised at what they say. It is not boilerplate anti-Americanism of the usual cheap Euro style. And their keen criticism is not just that we are $30 trillion in debt, dependent on China, with a corrupt elite, or have gone insane inventing the most lurid crimes to put away the supposedly predetermined guilty Donald Trump.

Instead, they express disbelief, worry, lamentation even, that the one solid referent in the world has gone, well, completely rabid. They are terrified after the Afghanistan debacle that their old ally or new homeland, the once constant America, is delirious, incompetent, and self-loathing, and now there is no plausible alternative to the old American deterrence.

A view of America from overseas. Not the ugly American, but "What the h*ll are you guys thinking!"

As in, "Who will lead the free world?" against evil?

The level of crazy is truly dismaying. And the suddenness of it.

VDH is the perfect chronicler of the current craziness thanks to his cool style.

The disease of “affluenza” - Not appreciating how well you got it.

Though, the disease contains its own cure. It destroys the affluence you had, and when it’s gone, suddenly, you again appreciate what you had.

A truly great essay. VDH does a superb job of diagnosing the cancer that has metastasized all over our country.

A keeper. Need to be spread far and wide.
