Actually it spontaneously combusted in the parking lot—on a hot day.
Too hot—big problems.
Too cold—big problems.
Battery gets old—big problems.
The only saving grace is that the virtue signaling rich lefties will be driving them.

Taiwanese Gogoro has an interchangeable battery so you can quickly get a new charge and not have to plug your vehicle into the electrical system. Cars will need a similar setup, but with the packs robotically switched out. The problem will be in standardizing batteries just as gasoline formulas were generally standardized. As a Benz owner you wouldn't want to get a Dodge/Fiat quality pack loaded at the battery "pump".

A plot to cut back on the population? Think how many houses have garages that are attached to the house. Some garages right under bedrooms. Charging will probably be done late evening or overnight. People sleeping.

What if I don’want one of these batteries in my car, period? Filling up takes less than 5 minutes, and one tank gets me about 500 highway miles.
What idiot would want to change this human advance?

A Gogoro scooter uses 2 batteries. Each battery is 1.3 kWh and weigh 9 kg each.
A car would need a much more power and a “re-charge” would need to be under 3 minutes.

They’re telling Tesla owners not to park them in the garage (of all places).

A car would need a much more power and a “re-charge” would need to be under 3 minutes. I know. I just like to ponder solutions. The batteries would need to be robotically slid in and out of the cars and go on to some kind of conveyor big enough to allow for the charges to complete. It's an engineering/economic challenge.
Me? I'll stick to ICE powered vehicles because the economics of said EV solution aren't very good right now.
