Aaron Hogue (of Hogue Holsters, knives, stocks, etc.)...no “G suit” capability in that Czech trainer with an upgraded engine. R.I.P.

Local airline pilot (near Reno/Sacramento) speculates on the cause:
Thanks for the links. I agree with the speculation of a high G blackout. The pilot made no attempt to recover the aircraft.
I stand corrected. I saw Juan Brown’s blancolirio channel analysis on YouTube, and it follows the GLOC (G-force Loss of Consciousness) pattern.
Apparently, the 61-year-old pilot in the red jet was leading the blue jet who then passed him on the outside. He then realized he was going to cut inside a pylon and be penalized out of the race, so he swung out at about 500 mph and then overcorrected to get back in the loop. It was then that he pulled enough g’s to blackout and lose control close to the ground. The right aileron actually came off from the overstress, but it would have been recoverable if he hadn’t blacked out. He actually had the best qualifying time in his jet but was fairly inexperienced with this gold level racing and made a “rookie” mistake.
I watched Juan’s video. He said there isn’t much left of the aircraft so NTSB will have to rely on the extensive video recordings and photographs during the race to determine the cause. High G-loading is certainly at the top of the list..
A “barrel roll” is a maneuver that requires thousands of feet to accomplish. It is started, in a jet, above ten thousand feet. The maneuver is a climbing, rolling slowly, inverted at the top and straight and level at the bottom/completion of the roll. The wise pilot starts high and finishes at a safe altitude with plenty of altitude above the ground.
If he hit an oak tree he was doing an aileron roll, where the roll is accomplished in a little more space than the wing span.
Whatever he was doing, he’s lucky to be alive......................
