I’d just figured that a dormant black hole might be so simply because it has already eaten everything within its gravitational reach. (Which is kinda creepy/scary to think of now that I said that out loud).
The biggest black hole can be found on Uranus until it gets wiped out.
In 1916, Karl Schwarzchild theorized the existence of black holes as a resolution to Einstein's field equations for his Theory of General Relativity.
Quibble: black holes were considered in Newtonian physics, by calculating the mass required to make escape velocity equal/exceed the speed of light.
