American chess grandmaster Hans Niemann previously admitted to cheating twice in the past, but a new investigation reveals that he did it way more than that.
Conducted and released by Chess.com, a 72-page report alleges that the 19-year-old champion likely received illegal assistance in more than 100 online games, the latest of which occurred as recently as 2020. Those matches included contests in which prize money was awarded.

This was a big thing in the chess world recently as he defeated the World champion who walked out of a famous tournament.

(question)
Isn’t this the one who was recently accused of using butt plugs to transmit supposedly winning moves to him?

That’s certainly some creative imagination, on the part of whomever came up with the accusation.

The investigation was not able to conclude if Niemann cheated in any in-person matches.
lol. Of course not.
Me and a couple of buddies have a few beers and play online virtual trivia a time or two a week. It is amazing how many more perfect scores there are when you play virtually compared to when you play in a bar where the host makes you put your phones away and is walking around looking at the participants.
Cheating via online competition is a virtual certainty.

I thought these were Grandmasters so how are they cheating? Is someone better than him telling him what moves to make? These are guys that can beat computers, how can they cheat?

Prove it, “likely” doesn’t cut it. After reading about this over the past week there is a lot of chess-politics at play, a sore loser among them. Maybe they will run Niemann out for beating their favorite but that doesn’t mean or prove he cheated.

I would imagine he has been all over this the last six weeks. Have you had a chance to have a long talk with him and get his thoughts in detail?

The Stockfish move calculator is almost unbeatable. And yeah, competitive Chess, with lots of $$$$ at stake, is eat up with cheating. It just got exposed in a big way.

Not almost. It is. The ELO rating of Stockfish is 3500+. The best human, Carlsen is somewhere around 2850. Stockfish is light years ahead in terms of ability and even running on an average laptop will beat Magnus 99 times out of 100.
