Yes, I agree.
However the point was that Ian was like an 8 hour tornado, and with wind speeds like that, the person had a point. At least tornadoes come along and are over in a few minutes, even though they can be potentially more destructive.
But 8 hours of sustained winds speeds like that, there’s not a lot that can hold up to that.

I was embarrassed for our country to watch Biden entering the church for QE2’s funeral. He was smiling and shaking hands with officials as he walked along.

No, the high death tolls are due to the nws being wrong. They forecasted the storm hitting a couple of hundred miles further north and didn’t correct the forecast until it was too late for people to get out.

They forecasted the storm hitting a couple of hundred miles further north and didn’t correct the forecast until it was too late for people to get out. Which is nothing they had any control over. The weather will do what it going to do.
This is far from the first time a storm took an unexpected turn.
People presuming they are safe or that it won’t be so bad is the issue. That’s why there is the cone of uncertainty.
