One of the B vitamins is a natural skeeter repellant. On a trip to Dominican Republic I increased my B-Complex intake as a health safeguard. My wife took little or no B-Complex and the skeeters chewed her to pieces, while they avoided me like anti-magnetism. Dining on the beach one evening they practically ate her up. I could feel them bouncing off my bare legs and flying away. Not one bite did I receive! Good ol’ B-Complex!

Good point. The only insects I have problems with are these Chink lantern flies. Fortunately, we had a good frost and they died/went away.

I used to call my wife a mosquito bite wuss, as we’d all get bitten, but only she’d complain. Then she got West Nile. Was awful.

Tumeric in Chicken Masala. Good. Tumeric in a latte? Bad

People who smell like butt never get bit.

"Are you a mosquito magnet? It's because of how you smell."

No, it isn't.

We all smell the same: with our noses.

What this clown -- who flunked Journo 101 -- meant to say is "It's because of your scent/aroma." [pick one]

I lived in Florida for three decades. I used lime soap, lime shampoo, and lime cologne. Mosquitoes never touched me.

I’m O-, and bugs tend to leave me alone.

We have bee hives on our property, so there are lots of bees around. I have never been stung. I don’t recall the last time I noticed a mosquito bite. Maybe i’m bitten all the time, but it just never bothers me.

It’s my wife’s job to take our dogs out to the front yard in the summer because bugs leave her alone as opposed to feasting on me. In turn I take them out after the temps drop below 45 because she hates cold weather, and I could care less. It works.

That’s a solid deal. It sucks being the only one in a group getting destroyed.

I get the bites too. Mosquito are bad but chiggers are way worse. They itch like crazy and I get big red welts and oozing puss. Also in Florida I get the no-see-ums with the same result. I use a repellent and it helps but sometimes I’m out without it and I pay the price for the next two-three weeks.

“Mosquito are bad but chiggers are way worse.”

Get dry garlic tablets and take them prior to going into the tall grass. The more they stink, the better. I take 2 or so prior to going out. You can smell it on your skin but it greatly reduces or eliminates bites.

Maybe so. I’m O+ and a certified skeeter lure.
I’ve also been told that being a fair-skinned blonde attracts flying bugs. Small price to pay :P

Interesting. I didn’t go to any big mosquito areas this year, but I don’t drink anymore, I had a huge vitamin B deficiency as it turns out as well as some other vitamins like D, Iron, and a few others that I learned due to malabsorption issues. Over the last year I have started to take many supplements including curcumin. Perhaps, I can now go to mosquito areas next year. I have more and more been avoiding places where mosquitos may be as it was absolutely intolerable, hopefully I can now get just a few bites instead of being abolutely swarmed

A long time ago I read a theory that for some reason people with blood type O tended to be more attractive to mosquitoes. I’m O+ and my personal experience has born this out. I can be in a room with 100 people and one mosquito and I’ll get bit three times.

In the same boat myself.
