“That’s where the money is” - John Dillenger

Attributed to Willie Sutton, but likely a fabrication by the writer interviewing him.

President Barack Obama Highway

LOL. Like MLK Blvd in any city, I wouldn't go there after dark.

Several years ago I was at the local post office on a Sunday using the automated system and no one was there.

I almost missed a navy federal card on the top since it was flipped over. It blended in well.

So I called and let the credit union crowd about the found card.

In the town where I worked, a road to connect a base to town but which bypassed the crowded main roads was called Freedom Way. Of course, someone came along and decided it should be called MLK Blvd. It was just stupid pandering. Freedom Way stood for all Americans, especially the military from the surrounding bases, and not just one demographic.

Gotta’ thank the city commissions.

Those three placenames serve a distinct public service.

The highway is real name is old Dixie. Or Dixie runs through Florida and I heard it goes all the way to Chicago but when it went through Riviera Beach and there’s a black population they have to rename it don’t you know?

They got him too soon. His next stop was the shoe store for some work boots.

“on President Barack Obama Highway”

Not a good place to lose a credit card.

One day my mother over the phone was checking the balances on her accounts when she learned of a 2 hundred dollar charge on her card at a store she’s never been to.

She checked her purse and pockets for that card, but it was missing. She suspects she was pickpocketed on the commuter train on her way to or from work. She called up the bank to report her card stolen.

Next day, the thieves that had the card returned to the very same store, only this time to try to purchase 2 thousand dollars worth of goods on mother’s card. When they went to the cashier to pay and handed over mothers card, the cashier tried to process the card. But on her screen it was listed as stolen.

The cashier secretly alerted store security who in turn called the cops while the cashier stalled the thieves. The cops came and they were arrested right there in the store and mother was reimbursed her 2 hundred bucks.
