Russia is moving detained U.S. basketball star Brittney Griner to a penal colony, her lawyers said Wednesday, drawing a sharp rebuke from the White House.
Griner, convicted for possession of a small quantity of cannabis oil and given a nine-year prison sentence, was transferred out of a detention center on Nov. 4, her legal team said.
She "is now on her way to a penal colony," lawyers Maria Blagovolina and Alexander Boykov said in a statement.
They said Russia generally sends notifications of transforming prisoners by mail, taking up to two weeks. "We do not have any information on her exact current location or her final destination," they said.
Griner's case has drawn outrage in the United States, with Secretary of State Antony Blinken reaching out to Russia to propose a deal to free her despite soaring tensions over Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

If I were Russia I would get her out of their country asap.....

When they play midnight basketball in Russia, what time is it where somebody is playing the American national anthem before a lesbian basketball game in the States?
I guess there is now one entitlement minded “person” who found out a bit late in life that sometimes there are consequences to their bad decisions.
I guess Russia is not progressive enough yet to have “justice reform” measures enacted.

Under Putin they’ve gotten nothing right. The have the highest abortion rate, the highest corruption, the murder of political activists like Boris Nemtsov, the imprisonment of dissident journalists, constant nuclear sabre rattling, and the criminal invasions of the Republic of Georgia and Ukraine.

Good… like their suppression of homosexuality in public, sex changes etc,.. treating her like any other criminal will hopefully be the kind of thing that helps them avoid America’s fate.
Her first thoughts were “Penal colony? Does that mean what I think it means? Can I get me a penis there?”
