TAMU can't afford NOT to fire Jimbo.
Wokeball blues.
DGAF.
When they broke up the Southwest Conference, and sold out for TV money, and started having a fake “national championship” (thanks Obama), they destroyed good old normal college football.
It couldn’t happen to a better team. Hopefully, Texas and OU will be right behind. Money grubbers.
Texas A&M has always pretty much been what you just described. And therein is the issue, they think they are a program much bigger than they are. They’re just A&M.
Texas 4&8 is stuck with Jimbo. I’m not certain that they have done away with the people who “negotiated” that contract. Ironically, Auburn is almost as much of a mess. Auburn paid a lot to get rid of a pretty good coach, only to end up back a Square One again.
Meanwhile Fisher’s old school, Floida State, has finally turned it around and the future is looking very bright
Jimbo Fisher hasn’t had his head straight since divorcing his blonde wife when he was head coach at FSU, because she fell in lust with a gator trainer coach.
Totally fecked him up. And I didn’t like him afterr Bowden, but daggum, the man had reason for going south.
He should take the money and go fishing. Praying for him to get some peace.
Someone owes Kevin Sumlin note of apology…
Not reading all that...because....Poor Aggie
I’m an Aggie. Don’t know who I’m more mad at, Jimbo or the administrators who signed his contract
Just set up a minor league for the NFL.
A friend commented today... “what’s worse - an SMU-like death sentence or what’s happening at A&M? Take your pick - it will be minimum 10 years to recover. An $80M buyout is cheap by comparison.
Hey now... Tech fired Collins and the team is doing better. Yes, Richt has built a monster in Athens but I'm hopeful Tech can (1) become competetive again and (2) build from there. Tech Class of 1981
Generally speaking, coaches should not be given these massive contracts that cost the institutions so much to get out from under. Jimbo Fisher had the rep and the resume to show he was a winner. But there are many many more candidates at the lower levels who can probably do just as well or even much better.
It’s deja vu all over again for Aggie. Always has the most and does the least.
There are 500 K “former students” out there. A high percentage of that alumni base cares about Aggie football.
A portion of that has pockets as deep as the oil rigs drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.
TAMU has the 2nd largest endowment of any public university at $18 B.
If Auburn could find around $40 MM for bailout over the past 2 years, I am 100% sure the Aggies can collect the $90 MM.
Yes that type of bailout is obscene but not for one second do I believe Aggieland cannot pay it.
If Jimbo’s #1 recruiting class starts to jump off the ship then TAMU must pay.
One thing not mentioned in the article, aTm has been one of two programs (with miami being the other) to openly and brazenly just buy recruits. Simply outright bought them using NIL money as cover.
When you have a team full of mercenaries who don’t really want to be at your school and who aren’t really committed to it or to the coaches in their hearts, its tough to get them to be really dedicated and make the all out effort needed to win in a tough league like the SEC.
Another aspect is that Jimbo Fisher’s Offense is pretty outdated and generally only works with outstanding QB play - which he is not getting from the young QBs they have there.
aTm is probably going to lean on Fisher to have a shakeup on his assistant coaching staff and they will hope that this fixes things. They will give him 2-3 more years to see if this works. If not, and as financially painful as it will be (probably still about $50-60 million), they will fire him.
They beat #6 LSU yesterday. Problem solved.
