At first I thought it was, “Mother,” by Danzig.

Yes!
Speaking of mothers, I’m actually listening to Frank Zappa now.

Hahahahahahahahahah! Thank GOD you weren’t referring to “Mother” by The Police!

I am one of those people who, when I digitized the album, threw that one in the trash!

I didn't expect these responses.

I'm 74 and remember my father crying as he sang this song to HIS mother (Mamere Archambault) when I was about 4 or 5 years old.

I am 54 and can relate to the other responses more than your original message. Mother by Danzig is a great weight lifting song. I was just turning 20 at the time and really into lifting weights.

I have a vague recollection of the song you are referencing today though, so at least I am familiar with it!

Funny - to this day when asked what I think is the worst song ever performed I say “Mother by the Police”

I was very hip eyed in the 70's (viet era vet), but this was a song I never identified with and wondered (at the time), did John actually come from a shitty home ?

The Beatles were rock stars and by definition, a combination of God and angel. I certainly never entertained broken homed-ness concerning them.

I WAS, at the time, meditating on the dichotomy of wealthy blues singers . . . singing the blues.
