One might ask how many avowed socialists in the EU, Canada and our United States of America there are. Given that some membership of the DSA sits in our own governments, federal and below, and some likely on our courts benches, and given the observable fact that much of academia is captured by socialists of varied flavors in the moment, and adding in the sorts of celebrity talking heads in news and opinion, your complaint rings a little hollow.
The "word" of an enemy as much as a friend is worth noting, which one finds in many adages and slogans we often spout at one another in lieu of more in-depth discussion.
As to BRICS, which seems something that will change as time passes, "advantage" is something they seem to be seeking, and it is wise and NOT foolish to heed their views. Had one believed what Mein Kapmpf or the Koran actually said before letting these kinds of hatreds slip in under our radar, one would have been better prepared for events such as we have seen. An "avowed socialist" and his words are worth taking to heart, even as we would disagree with them. Fervently.
One might ask that, but that was hardly a response to the point being made, was it?
